Forefronts in degradation of wood
Abstract
Wood is an engineering material affected by bacteria, fungi assisted by moisture content in medium and recyclability of chemical conversion in wood by climate changes. Decay of wood is prevented by preservative and control of environment. Control of water content by modification improve durability or prevent basis of fungal decay. References of wood properties are studied from archeological stocks of ancient wood cultures exposed under different terrestrial and aquatic environments. Cell walls are zones to start degradation after diffusion of moisture and germination of microbes and their colony. Keywords Wood, Lignin, Cellulose, Preservatives, Fungus, Bacteria, Moisture, Polymer, Archeology
