Use of the electroflotation for oil spill or oil products cleanup from sea or waste water as a new environmental technology

Michael Shoikhedbrod

Abstract

Among the existing today methods of cleaning of oil spill and oil products from sea or waste water most perspective for cost-effective and highly effective properties is the electroflotation. However, main problem in the all existing electroflotation methods of cleaning is the increase of the saltiness of the space near the cathode as a result of passing of the electric current through the sea or waste water that covers cathode’s surface by salt that can cause the total curtailment of the process of electrofloatation. During the time, the formed salt closes the grid and locks the output of the hydrogen bubbles through the grid. Also, the destruction of the anode as a result of the oxidation is another problem.  The paper represents the existing methods of cleaning of oil spill and oil products from sea or waste water and a new perspective technology using the electroflotation and special constructed industrial electroflotator that can be successfully applied  for effective cleaning of oil spill and oil products from sea water or waste.
