Light Dependent Processes in Plants

Amit Agnihotri

Abstract

Light is vital for the survival of all living organisms on Earth. It is hard to imagine life without light. The source of light, the Sun, is the universal source of energy for all life on Earth. It helps the human beings to carry out daily routine work very easily. It is also required for growth and development of plants; bacteria such as cyanobacteria, green sulphur bacteria. In plants, the solar energy or light is absorbed and converted into another useful form i.e., chemical energy. This review gives a brief insight into the various growth and developmental processes in plant that are controlled or regulated by light.
