Abstract

In the present study, a simple sample preparation method has been established for the determination of toxic elements (TEs) Cd, Cr and Pb in raw milk samples of buffalos and cow. These samples were collected from different locations such as industrial, roadside and near to residential areas of Karachi, Pakistan. Concentrations of understudy TEs were determined by electro-thermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) prior to conventional wet acid digestion. The results showed that Cd and Cr were presented little bit higher in buffalo milk but Pb level was detected lower in buffalo milk. The accuracy of the proposed procedure was confirmed by analyzing of certified reference material (Bovine Liver 1577b) and standard addition recovery test. The detection limits of proposed procedure were found to be 0.073, 0.032 and 1.41 µg L-1, respectively. The CAD procedure was successfully applied to real samples.
