Abstract

This work focused on investigating and controlling the effect of ambient temperature on the surface temperature of a PV module. An experimental approach is carried out to provide ventilation on the surface of the PV panel with the help of a blower. With the increase in solar irradiance, the panel temperature also increases so experiment is conducted for different velocities of the air with the help of a blower to bring down the surface temperature of the PV panel. A CFD analysis carried out on the surface of a moving locomotive where a flexible solar PV panel can be integrated on its surface and the surface temperature can be brought down by natural ventilation process, as the vehicle is kept moving. Hence, by controlling the effect of ambient temperature on the pv module surface, the output power obtained is improved, thereby increasing its efficiency.
