Abstract

Schiff reaction is one of the versatile reaction widely used in organic synthesis focused on the discovery & development of isoniazide Schiff base derivative N’(3,4-Dihydroxy benzylidene isonicotinohydrazide) have been reported in presence of 0.01g molecular iodine catalyst stirring give fast product & good yield. The synthesized compound is characterized by FTIR & H-NMR analysis. For the development of coordination chemistry Schiff base & metal ion having played most important role, when ligand and metal ion interacts with each other then this showed complex formation. interaction of Cu (II),Ni (II),  CO (II), Fe (II) & Mg (II) metals ion with synthesize base ligand of N'-(3,4-dihydroxybenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide have been investigated by PH metric titration at 0.05M ionic strength at room temperature in 10% ethanol. To estimate metal ligand stability constant (log k) & proton ligand stability constant (pk). It is observed that metal ion form1:1 & 1:2 complex of N’ (3, 4-Dihydroxy benzylidene isonicotinohydrazide).

KEY WORDS: 3, 4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde with isoniazide, molecular iodine, stability constant & PH metric.
