Biofiltration and Its Application
Abstract
Biofiltration is one of the emerging technologies that deals with treatment processes used in water, wastewater and other toxic compounds. In water treatment, it is used to purify the surface water for potable use whereas in wastewater treatment, the main purpose of filtration is to produce effluent of high quality so that it can be reused for various purposes. Originally, biofilter was developed using rock or slag as filter media, however now-a-days, several types and shapes of plastic media are often used.
