Abstract

ABSTRACT
The aim of the work is to develop a system that remove welding fume from the breathing zone of welders and leave the surrounding safe for other personnel. The system was designed using environmental safety consideration the booth volume, hood size, hood location and fine size were design. Actual work on this project the small-scale industry no escape route to toxic fumes and gases generated by welding operation in the factory. These fumes and gases stay on shop floor which is not good considering the health and safety at work place. We recommended installing proper ventilation system which must take into account freshly make up air. The design volumetric floe rate is 4 to 6 m3/min. the ventilation system tested by using thermo anemometer and measuring tape. Volumetric flow rate of flexible duct show that 2.4 to 3.4 m3/min is achievable. This flexible duct extracts the fume or smoke reaches the welders breathing zone.
