Modelling of the Enzymatic Hydrolysis of various Wood Saw Dust

Ukpaka C. P, Juliet Belema Gift-Onyesoh

Abstract

This investigation focuses on the enzymatic hydrolysis of various wood saw dust. The study was carried out in a batch reactor to ascertain the rate of breakdown of bond cleavage in the various woods saw dust. For this work, hard wood, semi hard wood and soft wood were the various wood saw dust examined using matlab computer programme language. The parameters for this research work was gotten from literature and some were hypothetically gotten for the purpose of simulation. The rate at which the microorganisms fed on the substrates varies for the various wood saw dust used. But the trend of decrease of substrate concentration as time increases was common to all the various wood saw dust. The concentration of substrate against time for the various wood saw dust shows that rate of decrease in concentration is slow for hard wood, fast for semi-hard wood and faster for soft wood and this can be attributed to the functional parameters of each component investigated.
