Studies on Fuel potential of different generation biofuels

Ram Kishore Asthana, Ajay Kumar

Abstract

Ever-increasing pressing issue has been to generate biofuel energy for transportation, food security etc. Our nation has been continuously laying efforts in this field to develop methods that can provide sustainable energy source that can fulfill the growing needs. Fossil fuels which were earlier the only source of energy production is now been replaced by various other sources including algal strains. The latter has come forward as an alternate to conventional methods of biofuel production. The different algal strains are being used and it is because of their unique characteristics that they can be easily used for biofuel production of varying kind including ethanol, butanol, biodiesel, gasoline etc. here, different generation biofuels are described, how they have evolved and their merits and demerits.
