ROLE OF GREEN CHEMISTRY IN OUR DAILY LIFE
Abstract
Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the generation of hazardous substances. EPA's efforts to speed the adoption of this revolutionary and diverse discipline have led to significant environmental benefits, innovation and a strengthened economy. The beginning of green chemistry is considered as a response to the need to reduce the damage of the environment by man-made materials and the processes used to produce them. Green chemistry could include anything from reducing waste to even disposing of waste in the correct manner. All chemical wastes should be disposed of in the best possible manner without causing any damage to the environment and living beings. PVC is problematic for many reasons: it is a petroleum-based material, it is made with vinyl chloride monomer, a known carcinogen, and it produces dioxin (a highly toxic chemical) during its manufacture and when burned.
