Significant Effects of Indole Acetic Acid in Phototropism

Abstract

Auxin is a plant hormone involved in regulating the action of certain cells within an organism. Phototropism is the process by which plant grow in response to light. Tropisms are responses to directional external stimuli and here Photo-indicates it is a response to light. Phototropism and auxin - Auxins are plant hormones that make some parts of a plant stem grow faster than others. The result is that the plants stem bends towards the light. We have noticed that a houseplant grows towards the window and turns its leaves towards the light. Keywords: auxins, bending of leaves, external stimulus, IAA, phototropism
