Abstract

New mixed crystals of Ammonium magnesium sulphate heptahydrate (AMgS) are synthesized by slow evaporation solution growth process using water as solvent. Close observation of FTIR and XRD profiles of doped and undoped samples reveal some minor structural variations. Energy dispersive spectra shows the presence of Mg (II) in the doped crystals. The sample's purity is verified through thermal analyses. SEM images exhibit defect centers due to dopants incorporation into ADP crystal. Optical examinations demonstrate that ADP crystals with doping exhibit excellent transparency, showcasing a greater band gap energy compared to undoped ADP crystals, along with high optical quality. The introduction of magnesium amplifies the fluorescence intensity of ADP crystals. High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) analyses assess the crystalline perfection of both pure and magnesium-doped ADP crystals. The diffraction curve (DC) patterns reveal that the addition of magnesium diminishes the efficiency of second harmonic generation (SHG).
