Abstract

Mass transfer operation is one of the most important subjects in chemical engineering. It contains concepts of diffusion, mass transfer coefficient and interface mass transfer. Also important unit operations such as distillation, absorption, extraction, crystallization, drying, humidification and dehumidification are covered in mass transfer operation. We come across these unit operation in our domestic applications and day to day life. These unit operations can be intensified to improve the cost effectiveness.  Experiments in in mass transfer operation laboratory are important part of chemical engineering. This paper sheds light on some important aspects of mass transfer operation in undergraduate syllabus.

Keywords: Driving force, Mass transfer, diffusion, recovery, coefficients, equilibrium.
