Lead pollution and health hazards-Causes, symptoms and consequences

Heavy metal pollution is causing major harm to the environment. Much literature is available regarding other factors causing pollution, but little is known regarding metal pollution especially in developing countries. Lead is an important and highly poisonous heavy metal that causes severe detrimental effects on human health, plants, micro-organism and the whole ecosystem. Lead is present everywhere either naturally or through various sources including industries and factories. The major sources being mining, mineral ore processing factories and high concentration is found near areas where smelting is carried out. It is important to understand the various effects caused by lead to minimize its accumulation and maintain the ecosystem.References
