Effect of Benzene Ring on Thermodynamic Parameters of Three Mono Azo Disperse Dyes on Nylon Fabric (Sudan I, Ii And Iv)

Abstract

In this study, three dyes - Sudan I, Sudan II, and Sudan IV - were tested for their performance on nylon fabric at different temperatures (50oC, 70oC, and 100oC). The thermodynamic properties of the dyes, including the partition coefficient (K), percentage dye exhaustion (%E), standard enthalpy change, standard affinity change, and standard change in entropy, were examined. The findings showed that the values of the thermodynamic parameters for the dyes on nylon cloth changed with temperature. At 100oC, Sudan I, Sudan II, and Sudan IV had %E values of 75, 80, and 84, partition coefficient, (18.95 kJmol-1, 19.84 kJmol-1, and 20.68 kJmol-1), enthalpy change (-17.69, -18.46 and -19.23 kJmol-1) and entropy change (0.099, 0.103 and 0.107 Jmol‑1k-1) respectively. Additionally, the enthalpy and entropy values of the dyes increased with rising temperatures.
