Organic Farming for Future Aspects: A Review
Abstract
Agriculture, integral to the economies of developed and developing nations, has a rich history shaping human societies. However, modern practices pose environmental challenges, impacting nutrient cycles, soil erosion, and carbon sequestration. Organic farming emerges as a vital solution, minimizing ecological impact through sustainable practices, preserving natural cycles, and potentially enhancing food quality. As a cornerstone of sustainable development, organic farming addresses the urgent need for environmentally conscious agricultural methods. Additionally, practices like reduced tillage, mulching, and supplemental fertilization are discussed for their contributions to soil conservation and nutrient management in organic agriculture. Techniques such as crop rotation, green manures, and biological pest control are highlighted for their role in promoting soil fertility, reducing environmental impact, and fostering natural ecosystem balance. The use of biorational pesticides and buffers/barriers serves to minimize environmental risks and maintain organic integrity. social sustainability is highlighted, focusing on the well-being of farm workers, families, and local communities through fair treatment, positive relationships, and support for local economies. Furthermore, sustainable agriculture upholds animal welfare by implementing practices that prioritize the health and respect of livestock, ensuring humane treatment and proper care throughout their lives. Together, these
principles form the foundation of sustainable agriculture, promoting a holistic approach to farming that balances environmental, social, and ethical considerations for the betterment of both people and the planet.
