Aloe Vera – Plant with Many Uses
Abstract
Aloe vera gel is rich in vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, anthraquinones, fatty acids, hormones etc. Presence of vitamins like A, C, E impart them with antioxidative properties, while enzymes like alione help to reduce inflammation. Anthraquinones which are present in large amount give Aloe vera gel analgesic, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The presence of fatty acids impart anti-inflammatory as well as antiseptic and analgesic characteristic to them. The hormones like auxins and gibberlins help in wound healing and impart anti-inflammatory characteristics. Aloe vera gel has many properties which includes healing properties, it also blocks 20 to 30 % ultraviolet rays, along with this on topical administration aloe vera inhibits inflammation. Presence of essential micronutrients help the aloe vera gel fight free radical damage by further boosting immunity. It has been found that presence of anthraquinones impart laxative effect to aloe vera gel. Aloe vera has many properties like they are antiviral in nature along with this they have antitumor, moisturising and antiaging activity. It has been found that aloe vera gel have antidiabetic, antiseptic effects. Therefore it is said that Aloe Vera is used for treating diseases so it can be said that Aloe Vera is called as wonder plant.
