Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel in Acidic Media-A Short Review of Literature

Kshama Shetty

Abstract

Corrosion of metals and alloys is an inevitable phenomenon due to metal’s natural tendency to revert
back to combined state to attain stability. The article focuses on briefly reviewing few of the green
corrosion inhibitors reported for mild steel in acidic media over last three years. The measurement
methods for evaluation of corrosion rates practically and theoretically are mentioned in the article.
The mode of adsorption of the inhibitors and the proposed adsorption isotherm model are also briefly
covered. Conclusion is drawn on the basis of reviewed literature.
Keywords: Corrosion, green, eco-friendly, mild steel, acid, impedance, isotherm.
