Comparison of Treatment and Purification of Salt Water Using Moringa Oleifera Leaf: The Concept of Photo-integration

C. P. Ukpaka

Abstract

The research work was carried out to examine the usefulness of moringa oleifera leaf dried in the presence of sunlight for effective treatment of salt water to achieve a reasonable and acceptable concentration when compared with the existing world standard value. The functional parameters examine in this research work are turbidity, pH, conductivity and temperature and the result obtained result suggested that Moringa Oleifera is effective at the concentration of 80 to 100 mg/L as a coagulant to treat salt water, contaminated water and ground water as well as reduced the functional parameters that value is above the World Health Organization Standard (WHO). The research work demonstrates the usefulness of Moringa Oleifera in treatment and purification of contaminated water to the International Standard.

Key words: Comparison, treatment, purification, salt water, moringa oleifera leaf, concept, photo-integration
