Vitthalrao Bhimasha Khyade

Abstract

The species mulberry, Morus alba (L) (Variety: Kokuso-27) and mulberry, Morus indica (L) (Variety: Kanva-2), the two varieties of mulberry were assessed for comparison with available variety in Baramati, mulberry, Morus indica (L) (Variety: Baramatiwali) for their influence on the pattern of banding of the protein in mature fifth instar larvae of silkworm, Bombyx mori (L) (Bivoltine Double Hybrid). Apparent variations were observed in number of bands and position of bands for particular types of treatments. Presence of 29 bands and 10 bands (KDa bands) were observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (Variety: Kokuso-27) (KDa bands). Presence of 251, 74 and 8 bands (KDa bands) were observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (Variety: Kanva-2). Presence of 38 and 11 (KDa bands) was observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (Variety: Baramatiwali). Treating of leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (L) of Variety: Kokuso-27 with Vitamin C/B, or the honey of three types of honey (clover, cotton and citrus honey) at the different concentrations and feeding them to the silkworm larvae, new bands of the protein bands were appeared in present attempt. Vitamin C exerted to produce bands at 56 and 43 KDa. The protein bands at 290, 35 and 7 KDa were appeared in the control and not in Vitamin B. Presence of 303, 49, 44, 37 and 21 bands (KDa bands) were observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry treated with clover honey and were absent in the control group. Presence of 160, 52 and 13 bands (KDa bands) were observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry treated with cotton honey. Presence of 73, 33, 29 and 8 bands (KDa bands) were observed by the proteins from the silkworm larvae recipient of the leaves of mulberry treated with citrus honey.
