Abstract

The physicochemical analysis of boreholes water and hand dug wells water in Wudil Metropolis was assessed using standard methods of analysis, with the view of determining the suitability of the water for domestic uses. The results obtained from the twenty samples showed that, most of the parameters ware within the WHO (2011) and  permissible limits for drinking water.  Except the following sampling sites B3 with Turbidity value of 5.33NTU which is above the WHO permissible limit of 5NTU, all the Alkalinity levels obtained were above the WHO permissible limit of 120mg/L. The Calcium levels obtained in D6 is 698.9mg/L which is above the maximum permissible limit as recommended by WHO a 500mg/L. The total  Hardness are within the WHO standard except D6 with a total hardness of 2289.5mg/L while Electrical conductivity levels obtained were below the maximum permissible limit as recommended by WHO of 1000 µS/cm except for the D6 with E.C value of 1267.7µS/cm.. Hence the water is of good quality for human consumption and other domestic uses as also reported by. Statistical analysis of ANOVA showed that there is no significant difference between the parameters analyzed as probability factor p <0.05.
