Modification of PVA & PMMA with blending and UV Irradiation

Nandini Prakash tank, Ajay Singh

Abstract

Abstract-Vinyl polymers have good scope of modification by crosslinking, grafting and other different techniques. UV irradiation is also used for surface modification. In this study PVA and PMMA modified by blending with starch as well as with UV irradiation. Surface crosslinked PVA and PMMA   films were set up by applying ultra violet (UV) irradiation. The impacts of convergence of photosensitizer watery arrangement, drenching time and UV light portion on a superficial level photocrosslinking response were examined. Physical properties and thermal properties were  estimated to portray the impact of the surface photocrosslinking change. The obtained results showed that the surface modification considerably reduced the surface hydrophilic character of the PMMA and PVA films, It enhanced the film’s water resistance and  strength properties.
