Biosensor –The Future of Diagnostic Study

Garima Tripathi

Abstract

Electrochemical sensors for several analytes were the first technically proven as well as commersialised biosensors. Electrochemical biosensors have been considered for a long time. Presently, typical platform of transducers based on semiconductors and screen printed electrodes is in practice for construction of biosensors. Among all biocomponents, enzymes or enzyme labeled antibodies are presently the most widely recognized biorecognition devices utilized as a part of biosensor. This article focuses the principle and several characteristic applications for the electrochemical biosensors. These have been characterized in three types in view of their procedure and application as – potentiometric, amperometric and impedimetric transducers. The article also focuses some of the most characteristic assays used.
