Abstract

The objective of the project is to develop a handsfree trash bin that can assist in preserving the cleanliness and hygiene in and around surroundings. The inspiration comes from the Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on October 2, 2014, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The mission aims to create a cleaner and healthier India by encouraging people to practice proper waste disposal and sanitation practices. In the present scenario, as the technology is becoming smarter, designing the IoT based system such as dustbin using sensors with the help of arduino to maintain a healthy environment. If a dumpster is not properly maintained, it may create a creepy environment and may produce air pollution in the region, affecting everyone's health who lives there, A well-executed project involved the construction of a self-governing trash bin utilizing an Arduino UNO, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, and a servo motor. The project was successful due to the proper wiring and setup of these components, which allowed for seamless operation of the system. When somebody comes within 10 feet of an ultrasonic sensor, the dustbin lid will open, Individuals will have a time frame of 10 seconds to deposit their waste and securely close the lid. This cost-effective solution has been designed to ensure that everyone can take advantage of it, and it will significantly contribute to the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene in the surroundings to the creation of a clean and germ-free society, which can be useful for a common man in the real world.
