Aerogel from Ceramic Composite

Bangshidhar Goswami

Abstract

This article is written from conferred articulated forms of aerogel. Sol-gel is a usual method to
prepare aerogel. Compromise of inherent fragile mater under extensive moisture absorption tendency
of silica network has mitigated after inclusive of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)
molecule. Long term applicability of silica aerogel has cited to confer superhydrophobic and flexible
configure based on synthesis by the catalysed sol-gel process; in accord of usual two-step method of
acid activation followed by basic inactivation. Highly porous at 10’s of nano-metric dimension has
versatile implementation. Usual navigated proclaim from pursued literature has subjecting thermal
insulation, catalysis, spill oil adsorption, chemical sensors, dielectric, drug delivery system, and
building constructive insulation. Aerogel from sol of ceramic powder refinement to nano-metric sizes
has interlinked into the skeleton of other ingredients.
