A Study on the Properties of Methyl Esters of Camelina Sativa Oil
Abstract
The depletion of fossil fuel and the pollution created due to the combustion of fossil fuels created an awareness to find an alternative to fossil fuels. In this present work, the focus is on to utilize the camelina sativa seed to produce oil and the same is trans-esterified to biodiesel and in this connection a detailed analysis has been done. Biodiesel is produced by transesterification of neat Camelina Sativa oil. The properties of the oil are investigated and qualitative analytical techniques such H NMR and GC MS are also done to characterize the methyl esters of Camelina Sativa oil. The result is encouraging us to use this biodiesel obtained from camelina sativa seed oil and can be substituted at right blends.
